Corinthian Cricket Club's Annual W. G. Grace Memorial Game
Sunday, May 28, 2006 at Woodley's Severn Field
The President's XI:
Masud Zaidi (Captain), Philip Lynch, Sandy Gage, Abbas Ali
Damani, Yaser Mir, Paul Severn, Richard Blackledge, Dinesh Sah, Sean
Pollard, Robbi Wade, Bilal Qamar
The Captain's XI:
Kelly Dunagan (Captain), Alan Rodrigues, Noman Khan, Cliff
Severn, Ali Mirza, Omair Akhoon, Amir Khan, Jason Mullen, David Marlor,
Farhadur Reza, Safi Ullah
The Game:
The "friendly cricket" rules were in place with
Phillip Traynor at the umpiring helm: No LBW,
first-ball Not Out, and bat all 40 overs, ensuring a fun-filled day for
all. Batting first, the President's XI somehow managed to put up 250
runs in 40 overs. Great contributions from Philip, Abbas, Yaser, and Richard.
The Captain's bowlers divided all the wickets among themselves at a
couple each.
The Captain's XI came too close for comfort in reply and ended their
40 overs with just 8 runs short of the target, thanks to great knocks by
David, Noman, Farhad, Amir, and Jason. The friendliest
cliff-hanger of a game!
The Awards:
Yes, the day was complete with performance excellence awards
in all categories:
Best Batsman: Abbas Ali Damani
Best Bowler: Paul Severn
Best Fielder: Amir Khan
Man of the Match: Richard Blackledge
